I’ll also share our itineraries, where to stay and tips on how to get along with Romanians. From magical castles to charming towns, join me as I relive this remarkable family adventure.

It was between March to April the season was still cold and breezy enough to say Romania’s extended winter. We arrived on 26 March to be exact a day before celebrating my son’s 12 - year birthday. Our flight took place from Abu Dhabi via Wizz Airlines, we had a quite smooth flight from AUH to Romania for approx. 5 to max 6hrs. We stayed at Le Blanc ApartHotel in Bucharest Romania.

I have a separate review on how was our stay in this apartment went out during our almost 2-weeks holidays in Romania. We have also arranged a shuttle in advance in Dubai prior to arriving in Bucharest. It took us 15mins, from the Bucharest airport to Le blanc Aparthotel, location is the greatest advantage of Le blanc as it was located in very centre of everything, train, subway and bus stations, carrefour as well as coffee shops and bakeries it was 10mins walk to a subway station.

One of the benches we rested in Oraselul, Copillor, with the breath taking views of the beautiful trees with pink flowers what we so called cherry blossoms in Romania :)

Afterward, we headed to Orășelul Copiilor, a charming children's park filled with playful rides and green spaces, perfect for families and those looking for a fun, relaxing time. Both spots were easily accessible and made for a memorable first day in the city!

Kids can enjoy fun activities like the Ferris wheel, carousels, mini roller coasters, and pedal boats. There are also various interactive games and attractions that keep children entertained for hours. For lunch, we dined at a family-friendly restaurant within the park, offering a selection of traditional Romanian dishes and kid-friendly meals, such as pizza and pasta, ensuring everyone was well fed and enjoyed we did not notice the time, the rain started to all and it was one of the majical experience in Romania whilst waiting the rain to subside we have enjoyed munching churros inside the park.

Romania, with its incredible charm and warmth, had given us memories we’ll treasure forever.

Getting Along with Romanians:

  • Be Mindful of Children's Behavior: While Romanians are generally warm and family-oriented, not everyone—especially older generations—is fond of loud children's noises, particularly in quiet or formal settings like churches or museums.

  • Tip: Bring quiet activities for kids, like coloring books or puzzles, to keep them entertained during calmer moments.

  • Encourage children to use their "indoor voices" in places like the palace interiors, church, or museum.

  • Respect Public Spaces: Romanians value respect for shared spaces. If your children are playing in a park or garden, ensure they aren’t disrupting others' enjoyment.

  • Interact Positively: Many locals, especially in smaller towns, are happy to engage with families traveling with children. A kind smile or greeting often breaks the ice.

Other General Tips:

  • Learn Basic Romanian Phrases: Using Bună ziua (Hello), Mulțumesc (Thank you), and La revedere (Goodbye) is always appreciated.

  • Respect Religious and Cultural Norms: Dress modestly in churches and remain quiet during visits, as these spaces hold deep cultural significance.

  • Show Patience and Understanding: Many Romanians speak English, but for those who don’t, patience and a smile go a long way in bridging the gap.

Appreciate Their Pride in Heritage: Compliments about Romania’s culture, food, or landscapes are warmly received.
