"7- Day In Georgia" The Perfect Itinerary

Travel Guide - Tblisi, Georgia

Tblisi, Georgia is one of the best countries we have ever visited as a family. Infact with my four children it was a family trip with ease. I remember clearly in mid of August, when we first visited Georgia way back in 2019. Our 7-day trip is one of the best and most memorable experience we ever had as a whole family.

In this post Im going to share the places we went while in Tblisi, as well as the other towns we have visited in Georgia from mountain hikes experience in the Eastern part, to the forest adventure nature and its breath taking views in the South.  Where we stayed in during our vacation, and things you may need to bring as when traveling with children and of-course our Youtube vlogs so you will have a glance on how beautiful Georgia is!

The place we stayed in Tblisi for 7 Days

We arrived in Tblisi airport at night, we have rented a car and a driver which was our original plan as we will drive through different places in Georgia. However whilst moving within the city we took cabs and walked most of the time in nearby areas. Hopping in the closest itineraries we have explored in the city, as the weather was superb! we really did enjoy as much of the walkings even at night.

We booked via Air bnb our first accommodation within the city. So we can cook during our stay in Tblisi. The next day early morning we had a home cooked breakfast and headed to our itineraries of the day. This amazing view from our lovely neighbourhood was nothing but a breath of a fresh air, you may seem to notice the Sameba Catheral waving at us from the top of the valley. Giving back such a fresh and beautiful memories.

Day 1 - Mtatsminda Park

Mtatsminda Park is a popular recreational area located on the Mount Mtatsminda overlooking the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. It's a beloved destination for both locals and tourists alike, offering stunning panoramic views of the city below. The park is situated on top of mountain above sea level, making it so  ideal spot to enjoy the fresh mountain air while taking in the picturesque scenery.

What we love in Mtatsminda park is, its originally established in the 19th century, Mtatsminda Park has undergone various renovations and expansions over the years to become the vibrant amusement park and entertainment plus scenery it is today.

3 Things a must do when in Mtatsminda with Kids:

  • Ride on funicular up to the mountain where you will find Mtatsminda Park.

  • Never missed the Giant Ferris wheel.

  • Spend the rest of the day to explore the beautiful park, sceneries, enjoy the sumptuous Georgian delicacies and the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain.

Day 2 - Tblisi City Tour

As we continue our wandering in this beautiful city, we are stunned with Tblisi’s beauty and its historical attributes. Since we are traveling as family, we prefer a DIY tour schedule, to manage our kids preparations on the day as well as for the rest of our tour in Georgia. Here on our day 2, we will show you how rich Georgia is with culture, nature, delicacies and of course very hospitable people we met during this trip.

5 Places to explore with kids in the city of Tblisi:

  • Sameba Cathedral

  • Cable car to Narikala Fortress

  • Botanical garden

  • Boat ride on the river by Peace Bridge

  • Rike park

Bridge of Peache

Day 3 - Kazbegi Mountain, Mesmerizing Trip to the East

On 3rd day of our trip we decided to move on to eastern side of Georgia, we went to Kazbegi mountain known as a dormant volcano and one of the major mountains of the Caucasus, located in Georgia, Mount Kazbek is the highest mountain in Eastern Georgia.

We visited and experience the beautiful sceneries along the way as well as the stunning landscapes and its perfect picturesque. Truly breathtaking!

6 Places must see and experience on the way to Kazbegi:

  • Dry lake, near by Monastery

  • Jvari monastery, overlooking Mtshketa

  • Georgian yard in Mtskheta, (Top Tip! Georgia is known to have its best wines of all time!)

  • Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, buit in 11th century

  • Ananuri Fortress, breathtaking

  • Russian and Georgian friendship monument

Ananuri Fortress

We have spent a night in Kazbegi and stayed in this cozy hotel named Alpenhaus in Stepantsminda, 4700, Georgia. This beautiful chalet is situated on middle of the mountains with outstanding view. I really have to describe this moments as like a movie scenery with a vast breathtaking landscapes with beautiful green grass sceneries.

We experienced our evening walk to see the nearby village and hugged the cozy yet very welcoming weather touching our faces on that night. We had seen a glimpsed of a very simple life in country side of Georgia which we will definitely not forget.

Day 4 - Gergeti Mountain, Hiked with Breath Taking Views

The next morning we have our very special home made breakfast prepared by the Alpenhaus host. A very sumptuous Georgian cheese made by locals and assorted vegetables from their farm. not to mention the mountain top view, whilst we were devulging our delicious meals. We are heading to Gergeti Glacier in Georgia, this is our last stop from our mountain trip from the east on the way way to Tblisi. As we headed to Gergeti from Kazbegi and we continued our tour to the beautiful sceneries of Gergeti mountain. It was indeed a jaw dropping experience.

3 places you shouldn’t missed once visiting Gergeti in Georgia.

  • Stay in one of the best mountain Hotels in Kazbegi

  • Visit Trinity church overlooking Gergeti mountains from top

  • Mountain hike to experience the beautiful Gergeti glacier

We hiked to visit the famous Gergeti, Trinity church, approx. 30 mins away up from Kazbegi. Up there we were speechless with the view of Gergeti Glacier, as it was the most peaceful thing I can ever describe at that very moment. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia.

Day 5 - Gino Paradise, The Themed Park

After a 2-day trip on the mountains of Kazbegi and Gergeti. We were back to Tblisi. Our feet have traveled and experienced so far, the beautiful side of eastern part in Georgia. On the 4th day, our family went to Gino Aquapark was formely called Gino Paradise. It is approx 30 mins. drive from busy city of Tblisi. You need to spend at-least 1 day to fully experienced the magic of this themed park specially when traveling with your kids. Traveling from the city to Beshenova is accessible to commuters.

It is located in Beshenova St. Tbilisi the beautiful location was breath taking, can you imagine swimming in the middle of the mountain view. You may travel via local transportation which is available around the city.

Top tip! Georgia is the very first country who I realised two-way drive skill is allowed, means left and right hand drive is very common in this country.

Day 6 - Sighaghi - “The City of Love”

Sinaghi known as a City of Love in Georgia. It is true! Sinaghi is one of the most iconic places in Georgia, and very charming indeed. We definitely fell in-love with its cobble stone alleys and scenic views. Sinaghi is locaetd in Khaketi region easternmost of Georgia . It is Georgia’s smallest town yet very sophisticated and historical with its picturesque landscape standing on the peak of steep hill, which overlooks the beautiful vast of Alazaney valley.

On the way to Sighnaghi, we made as stopped by in Kakheti is the region and home of their best wines. I highly recommend to visit on the way to Sinaghi. We have enjoyed the free tour and wine tasting in KTW, (Kakhetian Traditional Wine) factory. Khaketi is a place where you want to discover an amazing taste of wine made with finest grapes from Georgia’s very own grape farms. We didnt have much time to explore the town of Sinaghi, as we are running out of time and needing to head back in Tblisi for a night. However, I highly suggest to stay at-least a minimum 1-night to explore this …

How to get in Kakheti, and Sinaghi from the city? There were lots of options now to get from Tblis to Khaketi and from Khaketi to Sinaghi. By bus, or taxi or private cars. Its approximately one hour and half trip from Tblisi depending on what transport you were in.

Day 7 - Borjomi

As we are getting closer to the end of this journey, our family have decided to discover the beauty of nature in the South of Georgia. Borjomi! is known for its mineral waters, old town, palaces and its magnificent natural resources. We have the best decision walking from the old town to the Borjomi central park, inside central park there is a walking trail that family will surely enjoy.

The Old town in Borjomi is the most interesting part, we have seen and experienced the traditional way how people are drinking from mineral water tubes, tasted their sumptuous food, local markets and cafes that have been built centuries ago. This town definitely gave us a chilling vibe, where we felt we were in the other part of the world.

Before heading to our adventure inside the Borjomi forest throug the passage from the town, we did  stopped by along the river side near by. Here we tasted the water coming from the mountain which Georgians are very rich and known to its natural resources and one of them called “mineral water” you will definitely taste it like “rusted metal” this is due to untouched water running though its natural irrigation which we found very interesting to discover.

Trekking is one of most exciting part of this trip as the nature walks with us, the river flows towards the end of the forest you will find the beautiful Borjomi sulfur pool. The forest has it own magical themed park here the kids had so much fun playing, walking around. We have spent the whole day, exploring the forest of Borjomi. The sounds of the birds chirping, the water running through the river, the wind blowing on our faces brings tranquility in our whole journey in Borjormi.

Top tip! it is approx 30-45mins walk from the central park to the depth of the forest heading to the sulfur bath. With kids it is advisable to bring plenty of water along, wear a very comfy shoes and a snack.

During our trekking we constantly stoping by the river to see and enjoy natural beauty of water runnign through the mountains with fresh air and nothing but moments to endure.
